The Nantucket Planter Collection is the first full collection of work from Petersen Pottery and is what has put us on the map.  This collection will be featured in the Sunset Magazine gift guide for 2013.  The micro size available here came to be during a dollhouse charity team I worked on earlier this year with interior designer Joan Behanke for Mattel’s Children’s Hospital at UCLA.  As I worked to get down to miniature I passed through what I now call the micro size.  It’s incredibly sweet and brings a smile to every person’s face.  It’s really the smallest size I have found for a soil desiring succulent to have as a home for it’s roots.

Hastings refers to the Palisades along the Hudson River in Hastings County. Like the Nantucket Collection, naming was inspired by a dear friend’s home town. During a studio visit she saw my new vase and said they reminded her a favorite geological feature she experienced as a child in Hasting County. After a quick google search, we agreed that the vases felt much like the Palisades and the Hastings Vase became official. Being from Los Angeles I have collected many friends over the years from all over the world. I have always found intrigue and been inspired by their draw to my home town. It felt exciting to honor them as I name the collections for Petersen Pottery.

These particular vases are the first of a new size for Hastings with the desire to make things smaller, creating moments of intrigue & inspiration.
